Rewired

“The easiest way to rewire your mindset. Be happy!"
After a stroke, the medical team constantly assesses your brain, heart, and physical health.
They want to see where you are, what your obstacles may be, and how best to help you. They need to know what a therapist can help you with, if you need rehab center care, whatever your situation calls for. But there's one thing to keep in mind while they run all those tests:
Your determination matters more than almost any test they can run.
How do I know that? I lived it.
When I woke up in the ICU, that was the first thing I learned. The doctors and nurses can move mountains, but you have to WANT to get better.
That takes work. Patience. Commitment.
OK, you had a stroke. Now what?
You have to decide that you are willing to do whatever it takes to get stronger and help your brain rewire itself.
That means listening to your doctor and completing any/all rehab and physical therapy that’s prescribed. No shortcuts. No excuses.
You'll get out of your recovery whatever you invest in it.
Set boundaries and stay focused on your recovery. Visit stroke.org for additional support and resources.
Make your recovery and long-term health your priority.
Your brain will thank you.
